Maths Curriculum Intent
At Lepton C of E Primary Academy we recognise the importance of maths. We want every child to enjoy maths and the challenge it brings. We feel it develops children’s character and resilience when they take small connected steps. It is critical to science, technology, engineering, financial literacy and all forms of employment. Therefore, we recognise the importance of the quality of our mathematics curriculum because it can have a profound impact on the future of our pupils. We follow a maths mastery approach in order to allow every child to succeed.
Through all of the aspects at Lepton for maths, we ensure that all children have the chance to connect ideas and build on existing knowledge from year group to year group. Our Maths curriculum is based on the White Rose Maths Hub curriculum.
We aim to use small steps and concrete, pictorial and abstract to develop depth of understanding and progress throughout year groups.
