They will perform ‘Wake Up Shake up’ each day to help get their bodies moving for the day ahead and talk about the importance of exercise in order to keep us healthy.

Daily - Please practise number formation throughout the week writing numerals to 1/10.

 

Monday

Adult to name the shapes that we looked at last week, triangle, rectangle, square, oval, hexagon showing the shapes and the children will name the shapes in turn. Use 2 shapes to re-create patterns from last week. Can they talk about how many sides and how many corners they have? For example, a circle has one curved edge, a triangle has three sides and three corners and so on….

Tuesday

Adult to name the shapes that we looked at last week, triangle, rectangle, square, oval, hexagon showing the shapes and the children will name the shapes in turn and talk about their properties.  Introduce different objects and adult to model the language of size. Put two things in order and continue to repeat using language taller and shorter. Find things around the home and say which is taller and shorter.

Wednesday

Continue to compare objects by length and talk about taller and shorter. Go outdoors and collect twigs/leaves and say which is taller and shorter.

Friday

Adult to name the shapes that we looked at last week, triangle, rectangle, square, oval, hexagon showing the shapes and the children will name the shapes in turn. Can you compare up to 4 household items and put them in size order from shortest to tallest.

Can your child point to the tallest and shortest person on the worksheet?

Reading and Writing

MONDAY- Children will think of a sentence and differentiate as below. Children will read the story of The Bear and The Scary Night Children to think of a sentence to write about the story and write it by sounding out the letters to write the word. Alternatively an adult can scribe the sentence and then the child copies the sentence to encourage fine motor skills. Can they hear initial sounds in words?

If you have paint resources, can they make blue lighter by adding white? Can they make blue darker by adding black.

Writing

MONDAY- Children will think of a sentence from the book ‘Naughty Bus’

Please ask your child what they remember about the story of "Naughty Bus" then write down what they have said, it may only be one word or it may be a simple sentence both of which are absolutely fine, then ask them to trace over the letters reminding them how to hold a pencil correctly. Some children will be able to have a go at writing the letters independently underneath the word or sentence. Also ask your child if they recognise any of the letters they have been writing.

Please continue to help your child practise writing their name every day, either by tracing over the letters that you have scribed or by them beginning to write the letters in their name independently.

 

 

Phonics

Please revise previous letter sounds 's' and 'a' and think of words beginning with those sounds.

This week the letter sound we will be learning is the letter ‘t’.

Adult to introduce the shapes. –Circle and oval. Next go on a shape walk (this can also be in the home). Can they spot the shapes that they have looked at?  What shapes can the children find and name?

Continue to name the shapes that we have looked at. Adult to model make a picture with the shapes that we have looked at. Children will make a picture using various shapes. Can they name the shapes? Make arrangements with shapes. 

Friday

Go over all of the shapes that you have looked at and make a picture with those shapes.

Dress and put shoes on by themselves to encourage independence.

Maths

Ask your child to count out various amount of items from a larger group.

For example if you do have 10p in 1p coins, place the money altogether and then ask your child to count out various amounts.

Can you get me 5p?  Can you get me 6p? etc.

If you don’t have lots of 1p coins, you can also use counters or toy cars/ figures or maybe even dried pasta shapes.

Practise this each day and for further challenge can they write the number down that you have asked for?

 

Expressive arts and design.

Children will use scissors to make swords or crowns and decorate them afterwards to help with their fine motor skills.

Being Imaginative

Children will create dens and using their swords and crowns they have made they can dress up and  “act out” their favourite character in role play using their imagination.

Daily Practise

Please continue to encourage your child to hold a pencil correctly and write their name.

Please continue to help your child learn more independent skills by encouraging them to put shoes and coats on by themselves.

Then in the search bar put "phonics s sound" f for foundation.

Please watch this video daily and practise saying the sound and words beginning with that sound.

Please practise writing the letter "S" Please do not worry about the size of the letter but rather on the formation. Please be patient with your child as this can take a while.

Physical Development

 Please continue to encourage your child to fasten their coat and put their shoes on all by themselves.

Investigation Task

Children will observe ice outside. Can they tell you how it feels and what happens to the ice when it melts?
